Educational technology leaders coordinate development and direct implementation of technology infrastructure procedures, policies, plans, and budgets for PK-12 schools. Educational technology leaders:
a. Use the school technology facilities and resources to implement classroom instruction.
Artifact: Study Island Tutorials
Course: MEDT 8467
Semester: Spring 2009
NETS Reflection: While this assignment was done with teachers in mind, it is directly related to the utilization of technology facilities. These tutorials were designed to help teachers create online assignments using the Study Island. This software is aligned to Georgia's standards and can be used to assess student learning or for remediation for students who may be struggling with a particular element. Once teachers have set up their classes and assignments within the program, students can access them via and computer connected to the Internet. Classroom computers, computer labs, or even their home computer can be used to work on their assignments.
b. Follow procedures and guidelines used in planning and purchasing technology resources.
Artifact: Evaluation Plan
Course: MEDT 8480
Semester: Spring 2010
NETS Reflection: This assignment has allowed me to play a role in the decision process of deciding whether or not to continue with the subscription of the Study Island software. If my evaluation shows that there does exist a correlation between student CRCT scores and the use of the program, this will be taken under consideration by the curriculum specialist and the administration.
c. Participate in professional development opportunities related to management of school facilities, technology resources, and purchases.
Artifact: Professional Development Article Review
Course: MEDT 8463
Semester: Fall 2008
NETS Reflection: This article review concerned professional development, specifically things that impede a teacher's use of instructional technologies. This is an area in which I am extremely interested and hope will be addressed. While I have not participated in a specific professional development program concerning technology resources, I do keep up with developments in this area of research. I am also an advocate of instructional technologies, though informally. I plan to ramp up my involvement upon graduation.
