The Bible
The Christian
Bible is divided into two main sections, called the Old Testament and
the New Testament. The word testament means “promise” so the two
testaments are the story of God’s promises to the world. The Bible
consists of more than 60 books written over many centuries. The
Old Testament is the first part of the Bible and includes the Jewish
scripture known as the Torah. It describes how God created the
world, and the lives of the early prophets. The second part of the
Bible is the New Testament. It tells the life of
Jesus and how
people should live according to his teaching. The Bible is the
world’s best-selling book and has been translated into every known
written language. It is read with devotion and studied by all
Christians.
