Interviewing Tips
Most interviews are set up through a phone
call. Before you go on an interview you should always conduct research
on the company; prepare answers to possible interview questions; and
take extra resumes and references with you. One of the most common
mistakes during the interview is not knowing much about the company.
You should wear a formal suit and arrive 10 minutes early. Just being
the most qualified applicant does not necessarily guarantee you the
job. However, if you have little experience you should show confidence
in your ability by emphasizing your strengths, such as knowledge of the
latest techniques.
If you are asked about your current boss and
you dislike him, you should not reveal that information. You should try
to find something positive to say about him. When asked a question that
stumps you, paraphrase the question and give yourself time to think.
You should close the interview by briefly stating your strengths, thank
the interviewer, and ask them when they will make a decision. Always
wait for the interviewer to signal the end of the interview. Within 24
hours of the interview, you should send out thank you letters to
everyone you interviewed with.
