Punctuation:

The punctuation marks that signal the end of a sentence are the period, the question mark, and the exclamation mark.

Period:
. used to end a sentence that makes a statement or command (Declarative & Imperative sentences)

Question Mark:
? used to end a sentence that is asking a question (Interrogative sentence)

Exclamation Mark:
! used to end a sentence that expresses very strong feeling (Exclamatory sentence)

Capitalization:

You must capitalize the beginning of a sentence, the word I, and all proper nouns.

 

Examples:

Punctuation:


Declarative Sentence: I walked the dog.

Imperative Sentence:
Do your homework.

Interrogative Sentence:
Have you seen my book?

Exclamatory Sentence:
We won!

Capitalization:

Sarah and I went to Publix to get some groceries.
