Purpose

The purpose of this site is to supplement language arts classroom instruction in collaboration with teachers who wish to integrate technology into lessons. Pages will be designed using Georgia  Performance Standards.

Collaboration with the classroom teacher is the key element to making this site useful, meaningful, and fun for students to use at home or at school.

Genre

Genre was originally a French word that means kind, sort, or type.  As it is being used here, Dictionary.com defines it as a kind of literary work.  This web site further defines genre as a type or style of fiction writing.

There are several types of fiction genre including science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, realistic fiction, mystery, and adventure. For this web site the concentration will be the elements of science fiction and fantasy and how to locate these titles in the media center using Destiny.  These two genre are sometimes linked together because they share some common elements.

These genre web pages were made to help sixth grade students with Georgia standards ELA6R1 and ELA6RC1.
