Now that you have learned a little about science fiction and fantasy it is time to choose your book.

When searching for a book in any library you need to know the call number and title of the book you would like to read.

The call number for fiction books at Lovinggood begins with “FIC” followed by the first three letters of the author’s last name. Ex: If you are choosing a Harry Potter book by J.K. Rowling the call number would be: FIC ROW. The call number for a book by Stephanie Meyer would be: FIC MEY. All of the fiction books are shelved together alphabetically by the authors last name.

Choose the Destiny Icon from your launcher (see picture on right) or
Cobb Virtual Library from home (use password from agenda) and Lovinggood Middle School. Now you are in the media center catalog.

• Type science fiction or fantasy into the "find" bar.
• Choose keyword and several choices will appear.
• Locate the call number. (It follows the little red book icon.)
  All fiction books begin with FIC followed by the first three letters of the author’s last name.
• Read a little about the book and check if it is available. Write down the title, the author's name and call number on a piece of paper.
•  Go to the fiction section and locate book by author’s last name and title.
• Take book to desk for check out.
• Remember, use this same procedure to find any book in the library.
• Use your mouse over the search page to see what the Lovinggood fiction section looks like.
