Which came first, the chicken or the egg? People have been arguing that question for a very long time. In this activity you will see how an egg becomes a chicken. You will get to investigate the life cycle of a chicken.

First, click here and follow the blue arrow. Remember to read with your partner. If there is a word you need help with raise your hand and ask your teacher for help.

Next, continue reading about what happens in each stage of the chickens life.

Finally it is time for you to put on your artist hat. Use the materials found in the art area of the classroom to create a model of the life cycle of a chicken. Make sure to show what happens in each stage of the chicken's life. Make sure you use your rubric below to guide your project.

So, what do you think... Did the chicken come first or did the egg? Although we may never know which one came first, we do know that you have to have a seed to grow a plant. Continue on to Activity Four to learn about the plant life cycle and let you explorer knowledge grow!
