The University has a program which aims to reduce waste from students. In spring 2012 Auxiliary Services started a recycling program in which recycling bins which were placed around campus. Mark Reeves from Auxiliary Services provides all the details of starting the pilot program. Keep Carroll Beautiful is a partner and sponsor.

There are websites available which focus on recycling and conservation around Carroll County, as well. The main purpose is recycling and providing residents with times and locations to discard items in a responsible manner. The website also shows pictures of gardens and other areas around Carroll County as inspiration to keep the current land looking the same it does right now.

The past five years UWG has observed Earth Day with student driven activities which promote recycling and other avenues to increase sustainability. For the 2013 event students planted trees on campus.
