MEDT 7461 - Instructional Design - Dr. Dawn Putney : An overview of systematic approaches to instructional planning, development and evaluation.

MEDT 8461 - Diffusion of Innovation - Dr. Leslie Moller :  The course focuses on the processes of innovation and change as they apply to educational systems. Students learn how to apply change models and diffusion theory in order to successfully integrate technology-driven procedures and resources into classrooms and schools.

Summer 2011 

MEDT 7462 - Internet tools, Resources and IssuesDr. Lessell M. Bray : A study of various Internet tools, resources, and issues as related to K-12 education. Strategies for integrating the Internet into the curriculum will be included.

MEDT 8463 - Issues in Instructional Technology - Dr. Leslie Moller : Advanced topics in the theory, selection, production, and utilization of technology-based instructional materials will be examined.  Issues, trends, and problems in instructional technology will be emphasized.

Fall 2011

MEDT 7472 - Introduction to Distance EducationDr. Jason Huett :  A general introduction to conceptual, theoretical, and practical ideas concerning distance education, including the current status of distance learning and its impact on education. Students will become conversant in the terminology of the field of distance education, review its history, conduct research on specific areas of practice, investigate instructional and learning design strategies, explore the technologies commonly used, and understand the unique roles and responsibilities of the distance learner and the distance instructor.

MEDT 8484 - Research Seminar I - Dr. Danilo Baylen/Dr. Abbot Packard : This seminar examines mixed methods (both quantitative and qualitative) used in media and instructional technology. Because the course addresses both theoretical and practical dimensions of educational research every student is expected to study exemplary research studies through printed materials. Students are also expected to plan action research studies in school settings and start developing an electronic research portfolio. This seminar will also introduce computer based data analysis packages commonly used in instructional technology research.

Spring 2012

MEDT  7475 - The Distance Education Professional Dr. Jason Huett : This course focuses on current issues and challenges for the distance education professional. Students will be prepared to assume the role of an e-learning teacher and professional through the study of distance education research as well as the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of e-learning environments. Students will examine the management of e-learning initiatives including cultural impact; budget, technological and managerial requirements; quality support; policy issues; development of e-learning materials; facilitating instruction and interaction; and other areas of professional development and training.

CEPD 8102 - Lifespan Human Development - Dr. Mary Beth Slone : This graduate course is a study of human growth and development from birth through aging and death. The course focuses on areas of physical, cognitive, social, personality, and emotional development as a series of progressive changes resulting from the biological being interacting with environment. It will study factors affecting these changes within historical, multicultural, and special needs contexts of development.

Summer 2012

MEDT 7474 - Reference Sources and Services : An introduction to reference sources and services, with emphasis upon online sources and services, and to the development of reference skills in P-12 learners.
