Disc Golf

Basic Rules of the Game

Teeing Off

Typically there is a tee box for you to throw from. Nicer courses will have a cement pad for the tee box, but most of the time landscape timbers or other barriers are used to signify the limits of the tee box. All initial throws on a hole must be made form inside this box.

Using a Marker Disc

Once your throw lands, this will be where your next throw is thrown from. Unlike traditional golf, you cannot throw the disc from where it lays. Instead a marker disc is used, players pick up their disc and lay a marker disc in place.

Following Through

Where the marker disc is placed there is an understood imaginary line that is perpendicular to the target. The player is not to cross this line when making their throw. At the time the disc leaves the players hand one foot should be directly behind the marker disc.

Out of Bounds

When a disc is thrown out of bounds, the player must move the discto the point where the disc was last inbounds. There is also a one throw penalty for throwing out of bounds. This applies for water hazards as well.

Putting

When a player is within 10 meters of the target, a run-up and follow through type throw is not allowed.
