Different Types of Discs

There are different types of Discs?

Yes! There are four primarily types of disc: distance driver, fairway driver, midrange, and putter. Each is shaped and weighted a little different to be used for different throws. Discs spin at different rates too when you throw them, depending on the disc and how hard you throw it. The combination of the speed you apply to the disc and it shape play a major role in the flight path your disc takes.

Distance Driver

The purpose for a distance driver is well.. distance. These discs have a thin profile with a slight raise in the middle. This is usually the style disc that is thrown from the tee box. They are shaped to cut through the air with the least amount of resistance.

Fairway Driver

Like the distance driver, these are sometimes used at the tee box on shorter distance holes. The profile is a little taller and the raise in the middle is more noticable. These disc are usually used on the second or third throw depending on the hole. They are meant to be more accurate than distance drivers, but don't go as far.

Midrange

Midrange disc are much easier to grip than drivers, and most beginners start with the midrange as a go-to disc for all throws other than putting. Reason being is these discs tend to follow the throwing path very well with less effort.

Putter

Putters look like a typical frisbee. They are very stable and easy to throw. They are meant to be used on the last throw of each hole. Within 10 meters of the hole is considered the putting area.
