There are a variety of climates in Central America. Over ½ of the region is covered with a tropical rainforest. There are also mountains, and it is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Pacific ocean to the west. Directly north of Central America is Mexico, and directly south is South America. South America is an is an isthmus, and it bridges the North American Continent and the South American Continent.
Central America, like Mexico, has many beautiful Mayan ruins to visit. There is Tik'al, Xunantunich, Temple for Sunset, Copan, Altun Ha, Olmec Heads. All of these are beautiful archeological sites of that the Ancient Maya built and resided in before they land was conquered by the Spanish.
In addition to the ruins, there are many large cities to visit in Central America as well. Some of the Central American countries have experienced conflict and war within the last 30 years, and are recovering from the devastating effects, such as Guatemala and El Salvador. Other countries have peaceful, stable, democratic governments, and welcome tourists year round to explore the lands. Costa Rica is particularly popular with Americans, and every year thousands retire in Costa Rica to enjoy the sun and the beautiful landscape.
