Introduction

Georgia’s economic development has been influenced by many things including climate, geography, and historical events.
Historically Agriculture has been an important part of Georgia’s economy with Cotton being a very important crop in Georgia. Other important crops include peaches and peanuts.
Georgia’s location has meant that it has been an important railroad center for many years and was in part responsible for the tremendous growth of Atlanta both before and after the civil war.
After the civil war and in the 20th century manufacturing has become an increasingly important part of Georgia’s economy with many products including Airplanes and Cars being manufactured in Georgia.

Agriculture in Georgia: A WebQuest
In this activity you will work with a group of your classmates to produce a presentation to persuade a special committee of the Senate to support one of Georgia’s many crops. Along the way you will learn about the agricultural products that are important to Georgia’s economy.
