Many students do not want to speak in front of class or there is not enough time for all students to participate verbally. By allowing and encouraging students to respond to classroom disucussions in a blog, students who are more reserved can "speak" on a classroom blog. This form of communication will encourage students to participate in a 21st century classroom.
Teamwork and collaboration is more than "wearing the same color shirt". Students can learn how to communicate efficiently and effectively by responding to each others' comments on blogs. This is also a good way for students to learn digital responsibility, digital etiquette, and cultural awareness.
By communicating through a blog, students have the opportunity to answer questions to real-world issues, think critically, learn new strategies of communication, collaborate with peers, teachers, and parents, and learn digital citizenship.
