Evaluation Plan
The curriculum web will be evaluated by the following:

  • Insertion of a feedback Google Doc form embedded into the Teacher Page of the site.
  • Single targeted student testing. One student who is of similar age and ability to the targeted group will preview the site.
  • Small group. The site will be tested by a small group of students.
  • Content review. The curriculum coach will evaluate the site.
  • Facilitator group. Teachers of second-graders will deliver feedback about the site.
  • Large group. The site will be tested by a larger group of second graders, some of which fall outside the norm of the targeted audience in attitude and abilities.
  • The site will be tested on both a Macintosh and a Windows platform.
  • The site will be evaluated using several web browsers including Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome.
  • All links, forms, scripts, and images will be tested.

Teaching Plan
This curriculum web will be conducted primarily in the gifted resource room. Students will be introduced to the web by the teacher and will have already been trained in the use of web browsers and Edmodo.

Students who will be using this curriculum web will be primarily a small group of gifted 2nd grade students. As this is a small group, there will be a 1:1 ratio of computers to students.

Before implementation with the students an evaluation will be made of the website by a few sample students who are similar in attitude and ability to the intended audience. Feedback will also be elicited from the curriculum coach as to alignment to GPS goals.

The curriculum web will be presented to students during the 2nd 9 weeks of school after students have received lessons pertaining to software and computer applications. If for any reason technology or Internet service fails, I will provide students with trade books, reference books, and off line video materials to complete objectives. I will be available for students as they begin to use the web. The Edmodo page will provide communication when students are not at school. Students who are off task will be redirected and prompted. Major behavior transgressions will cause a student to lose his/her computer privileges and the student will have to use other materials for their research.

Follow up activities will be conducted in the resource room as well as the regular education classroom. Student progress and feedback will be conducted by evaluation and by the class Edmodo page.
