Project Ten - Atmospheric Space

Glorious Sunset

Title – Glorious Sunset
Tags- Atmospheric Space, Peachtree City, sunset, digital photography class

For this assignment, we could choose from atmospheric or ambiguous space.  I was taking a golf cart ride one evening with my family and had my camera with me.  We came upon the golf course and as I turned to see the course I caught this amazing sunset and did not need to do much editing on it.  I adjusted the saturation a little, but the colors were absolutely spectacular in the first image.

Just like the creative filter assignment, this assignment had value to me because it showed me the importance of having my camera with me at all times.   I was not taking this picture for an assignment, but two weeks after I took the picture I was thinking what I could do for atmospheric or ambiguous space and I remembered this picture.  I thought about natural framing and I could not believe how well this picture met that photographic rule.  I love how the picture almost looks as if there are two suns.  The one area I would like to improve in is my cropping for printing purposes.   I recently watched a tutorial on cropping for picture size and I want to try that.

I chose the title, Glorious Sunset because it was just glorious to see the colors before us.  Sunrise and sunset bathe the earth in such beautiful colors and this picture captures that.  The tags were used to describe the picture and for easy reference in searching for the picture in the future.  I exceeded on all the comments I made for my peers as I gave detailed comments and thoughtful feedback.

I believe I could use this type of photograph for a lesson on cardinal directions.  If we are looking at this picture, what way are we facing?  Fourth grade students sometimes forget what directions the sun rises and sets in.
