Google Earth
Google Earth is so much more than a tool to see distance from one place to another. Using Google earth, students can explore the moon and take tours of the lunar landing sites. Students can even take an interactive tour of Mars using Google Earth. What about seeing Earth from the perspective of outer space? You can do that using the new Sky feature. If outer space is not your interest, you could tour the ocean and learn about shipwrecks. While studying history, teachers can show how places have changed over time. According to Google Earth’s website, “with a simple click, check out suburban sprawl, melting ice caps, coastal erosion, and more.” Teachers could create a virtual journey to share with their students and even add narration to customize the trip.
