Project #4

Hands-On Technology

I have chosen to do a video tutorial for OnCourse Online Lesson Planner. I was the first one at my school to start using this program and I loved it. My principal told us that the school would pay for anyone that wanted to use it. I worked with the company to get other people to use it because I think it is such a great tool. This past school year, I was able to get 24 teachers to try it and of the 24 about 20 are still using it and really liking it. This summer, I have had 12 more teachers want to play with it over the summer to see if they think it might be useful for them. My goal is to make some video tutorials so it will get them started, but not overwhelm them with the amount of things it can do.

I will be doing my tutorials in the following order...

  • Creating a template and beginning your lesson plans
  • Uploading documents into the program and attach them to plans.
  • Sharing your plans with other teachers.
  • Using the website that comes with this planner.

I know the teachers at my school and I know they get overwhelmed when too much is thrown at them at one time. I am working very hard at taking small steps. This is difficult since I know the "big picture" and everything this program does to make the planning process so much easier for me.
