Sailing Down the Georgia Coast:

Georgia's Barrier Islands

Introduction:

Today, you will be loading up your sailboat to make an incredible trip down the coast of Georgia.  You will start your trip at Tybee Island, which is the first of Georgia's Barrier Islands, and end at Cumberland Island, which is the last of the islands.  So pack your bags, set your sails, and prepare for the journey of a lifetime!

           


Task:

Task #1- After exploring the islands pick one island and write two to three paragraphs explaining why you chose your island.  

Task #2- Complete by labeling a map of Georgia's Barrier Islands. (Use link listed in the Resources section)

Task #3- Create a travel brochure of your favorite island. Your brochure must include:

Island Brochure The island brochure had 4 or less items listed and little detail. The brochure had at least 8 items and some detail.  The brochure had at least 12 items and good detail. Included a picture. The brochure had all 16 items and great details. It included a picture and was well organized.
Favorite Island Explanation Wrote less than two paragraphs.  Several grammatical errors and not well organized.  Few details. Wrote two paragraphs with more than five grammatical errors.  Few details. Wrote three paragraphs with more than five grammatical errors.  Somewhat organized but lacking detail. Wrote three paragraphs, with less than five grammatical errors.  Well organized and lots of details.

 


Conclusion:

In this activity, you have learned how to collect data by using the internet to make a Barrier Island Brochure.  Through this activity you have also learned about each of the Georgia Barrier Islands, their location, and how to plan vacation.  We hope you have learned lots about the Georgia Barrier Islands and enjoyed your sailing trip!
