Exit Statement

My experience at the University of West Georgia has been among the most significant in my life.  I began here as a freshman 10 years ago in the Fall Semester of 1999 and I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life and by the time I had graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Political Science I still had no firm plan.  I applyed to law school with the vague hope that I would be accepted and when I was not I found myself adrift.  I worked a number of jobs over the next few years until I finally decided to go back to school and get a degree I could use.  This is when I entered the program and found my true interests.

I began the program in the Fall Semester of 2007 and the next year and and a half became some of the most interesting and meaningful of my life.  I was somewhat tenative when I began the program, but I found my feet within a couple of semesters and began to greatly enjoy computer science.  I soon found my focus in the program, software engineering, and learned a great deal about the topic from Dr. Lloyd and several orther faculy members and ended up as a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses in software engineering and program construction, immediately allowing me to pass on what I have learned.  I also took courses in subjects such as system and network administration, database systems, and several directed studies and found each course to be highly educational.  All of the faculty members I have studied under have been excellent teachers and  I enjoyed studying under them.

Now that I find my time here at UWG coming to an end I do so with mixed feelings.  I know that my time at UWG has been excellent, but I also recognize that it is time to move on and forward.  I plan to pursure a Ph.D in Computer Science beginning next fall at either Auburn, the University of Georgia, or Georgia Tech and I hope to one day teach and make the learning experiences of other as significant and enjoyable and my experience has been while earning my Master's Degree in Applied Computer Science at the University of West Georgia.
