Statement of Background and Goals

I began my US journey in 2000, when I came in Georgia as student at University of West Georgia. Doing computer science in high school for 4 years too, I wanted to have a major in Computer Science. So, in May 2005 I graduated "cum laude" with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. My work resulted in a 3.68 cumulative GPA. In my undergraduate program I took a sum of courses that will help me in the graduate program such as: computer architecture, software engineering, information management, advanced math classes, theory of computation, computer capstone, computer networking, and discrete mathematics.

During my years at University of West Georgia, I received several honors:

            • James E. Boyd Computer Science Award for outstanding academic achievment, February 2005;
            • Multicultural Achievment Award, March 2005;
            • Member of National Computer Science Honor Society;
            • Member of National Mathematics Honor Society;
            • Dean's List for the last 2 years, while in school;

My work experience will definetely help me in the graduate program. I worked as a computer lab student assistant 18 hours / week while attending school full time. Also, during my last semester at West Georgia, I got an internship with one of the top physician recruiting firms in US: Pinnacle Health Group, Atlanta. After the internship, I worked for them for 3 months. I am sure that the experience I acquired while working at Pinnacle Health Group will help me succeed in a graduate program.

My goals definetely include a graduate degree in Computer Science and I am sure that I am ready to succeed in one. I am aware that the fast development of new technologies put pressure on the new generation of students. I am up to the challenge, and I strongly believe that a graduate program will bring to me not only more confidence but also it will prepare me for an entrance in the computer programming industry. I know I can succeed in the information technology industry and a Master degree would definitely prepare me for the life challenges to come.
