Students will be required to research and interview for a job position. In researching job opportunities, the students have come across some definite job possibilities. The students will then be responsible for creating an employment packet. The employment packet will consist of a:
After creation of the employment packet, students will be interviewed by a representative of the company they chose for potential employment. Students need to have all of their package with them at the time of the interviews. Once the top students have been selected based on professional dress; organization of resume and cover letter; and professionalism within the interview, there will be an award ceremony. The company representatives will award the top choices for employment with a certificate and a small prize. |
At the culmination of this unit, students will possess the ability and knowledge to identify and utilize sources (on and offline) for employment information; write letters of application, resumes, and thank-you notes; know and respond appropriately to commonly asked interview questions; and be able to participate in a mock interview process. This culminating task allows the students to showcase what they have learned in this unit and the projects they have completed during this unit in order to obtain real-world employment from local business men and women. The students will be able to utilize the information and experience they gather from this unit for successful employment opportunities in the future. |
