Hello my name is julio some of you have probably read my story from my sister Natalia she has been helping me a lot and well for those who don't know I had a brain stroke (not really sure why) but I had one the doctor said that I have an AVM a vascular malformation (again don't know what it is but I have one)
I am 23 years old work for my self as a freelance recording engineer with my humble recording studio in Tijuana, Mexico (border with San Diego, California) and am trying to work as anything to invest more money in my recording studio which my perfect job I love that work.
Well the whole deal started on October 5 2001. I woke up around 9 a.m. (me being a night person a little early for me) and for all I try I can't remember what I did the week before but thats beside the point, I saw my niece (sister's daughter) and started playing with her so we played with her then took her to school then I went back to sleep. I woke around 11 a.m. because I had a job interview at 12:30. So I got up walked around my bedroom to get the cobwebs out but still I felt groggy. So I laid down supposedly for a second. Never could I have imagine what would happen next. I started feeling numbness in my right hand (really weird). After that I said have to get up but I couldn't I struggled and sort of got up just to come plummeting down a second later. I tried again and again, I can remember at list six times before I realised my right leg wasn't moving. Then I realised while I laid on the ground that my right arm wasn't moving either. My mom heard the noise I was making and went to my room. After she saw me lying there she called our neighbor so he could help her to take me to a hospital. Me being in Tijuana she took me to one in Tijuana so I could get immediate attention.
When I got to the hospital in Tijuana I can't remember that much but I do know that I had a cat scan and had a weird episode before going in to surgery when they applied the anesthetic and they had to stop the surgery. After I was let go from the hospital.
My mom took me to SAN DIEGO, UCSD healthcare. There I had an MRI done and an angiogram and at first they told me I had 1 of 4 things: a tumor, a embolism, a concussion, or a arteriovenous malformation, which later in January found out was the case and there is were my story is right now.
I am waiting to find out if my insurance will pay for the gamma knife surgery. I am sort of scared but I really don't want my family to see me like this because I am one of the strongest members of my family. Always the helper never the helped. But right now I feel like I don't know what will happen there is still lots to tell but gonna have to wait because have to go for now will finish soon.
Please read my sister, Natalia's perspective.
