She was 48 years old when her brain exploded. She had a giant aneurysm but, unfortunately, she died after seven months in the hospital.
It was the 28 of october of 1996, my aunty was at home, preparing something I didn't remember what exactly when she felt nausea, lost her balance and her consciousness completely. She was transported to the Lebanese Hospital Geitawi, directly to the E.R. They made her MRI, and they founded a big aneurysm (5 cm) in the most difficult area of the brain. The nurses talked to the doctor, Chauki Nahra, M.D. for to come cause her case was very difficult and strange , as he said after the operation. But, the doctor didn't come, he told the staff of E.R.. to do the necessary for to stop the bleeding but it was too late she lost everything. So, he left my dear aunty from Saturday night till Monday morning. I can't understand how a surgeon can leave a very urgent case like this. He came at 7:30 a.m. and started his surgery till 1:00 p.m. Her case was terrible and she was in a critical situation, the surgery was very tricky.
After the operation, the doctor came and said to my family that all was good, nothing was wrong, the surgery has succeeded and she is stable. But, my aunty didn't wake up, and still in coma for 3 months So Chauki Nohra, M.D didn't say anything about her state, he always said that she was stable. We asked him about her brain and her condition after the aneurysm, and if she was paralyzed cause she didn't see in her left eye, but he denied this totally. We couldn't discuss with him cause he is very serious. We have never had a communications with him.
After that, she had complications like fever, pneumonia and had hemorrhage in her stomach. She started wake up after 4 months of coma. That was abnormal when she woke up, she recognized us but she couldn't talk cause they put her tracheotomy. She couldn't talk and eat, she lost weight, she was always nervous cause she didn't know what was wrong with her, but her heart worked till the last minute in the hospital.
Personally, I passed through a bad and severe experience in the hospital. We had again a very bad surprise the last week, a second aneurysm with epileptic fit there was the end of my aunty. The doctor couldn't do anything for her and he was surprise by the result of his work. So she died and left us forever.
When I was with her in the hospital, I didn't understand anything concerning the neurosurgery because I was so young but now, I visited the most important neurosurgeon in Lebanon and he said to me, there was a doctor's mistake and how a doctor can leave his patient two days without doing something. So, I think that now , I can take revenge to my lovely aunty. I hate him so much and I think that he lost his self-awareness.
Finally, I would like to thank every body for listening my tragic story, I'm very proud to discover this site at the internet and I think that we need it badly. And now , I'm feeling better and calmed down after 6 years of suffering. And all I want that the doctor reads what I wrote but I'm sure that he will not be affected. Anyway, I said all I wanted to say from long time ago.
This is my story, I'm Nada (25 years old) from Lebanon, and you can send me e-mails in any time.
