Temporal Lobe AVM

24 May 2007

I am from Tamilnadu, South India, 29yrs old now. 11 yrs ago in April 1996 after my higher secondary final exams about 4 am in the morning i had terrible headache followed by nausea, vomiting and i collapsed. Immediately i was taken to the nearest hospital and given symptomatic treatment. Then i was referred to a speciality hospital My ct scan report revealed intra cerebral haematoma of 2-2.5 cms lesion on the temporal lobe of right cerebrum.

Then angiogram was done and multiple entangled AVM was found to be the cause of my problems. After the doctors suggested to leave the AVMs untreated considering risks involved, i returned home with just medications prescribed. I was advised to put on bed rest but as i wished to pursue my education i joined a nearby college. I had no other problems except some muscular weakness on my left part.

After 2 months, in July 1996, i had another bleed so i couldnt pursue my studies. I stopped taking Dilantin after 4 years. By Gods grace in faith all these 11 yrs passed seizure free for me.

I completed my masters degree in philosophy and diploma in pharmacy. I am now working as a Central Government employee in the Department of Posts. My marriage will be on August this year.

My problem is that i still have numbness and weakness on my left part and have vision problem in the left side.

I am not well in english, bear my faults.

Suggestions, queries and advices to live with AVM are welcome. Feel free to contact me.
