Cerebral Fusiform Aneurysm

I am 30 years old, and I have being diagnosed with a fusiform dilated aneurysm. I am extremely scared about this diagnosis. According to my doctor a neurosurgeon at the UIC in Chicago, the only treatment possible is surgery. He told me that because of the form of my aneurysm the only thing he can do is to cut the artery on both sides, tie it and lock it, then, to go and cut a piece of one of my veins located on my leg, and position it on the brain to the area in which the blood fluid has been cut.

I am in shock, I am frustrated, I feel so much resentment toward life. I cannot believe this is happening to me. I am not sure what decision to take. My doctor told me that there are risks that I need to consider if I decide to go on with the surgery. He told me that there is a high risk of a stroke, or that I can be paralyze from the left side of my body.

I don't know what to think about this diagnosis, because, the doctor who did my angiogram told me that she did not think it was necessary to do surgery. She told me she specializes on coil treatment through angiograms, but that was not an option in my case. I have read many books in which stories tell how some surgeons don't really care about the patient, and they don't mind doing surgery on a young person to end up leaving them like vegetables.

I am devastated, I worry about my kids future, I want to be able to see my 4 year old go to college, but it seems that this might not happen. I don't want to die so young, and I don't even think about the possibility of being paralyzed. I have so many goals, and dreams that I want to accomplished. I have worked so hard in my life for everything I have, my beliefs, my education, my relationships, my financial assets, I just don't think is fair.

Even though my doctor explain things to me, I don't think he was too sensitive about this topic. I found very hard to believe that these doctors are experts in doing surgery, but they don't know how what causes the aneurysm, what makes it rupture, or things to do to avoid rupture. If anyone here knows better and broader information than me, please leave me a post. I greatly appreciate all of the supportive information that you may leave for me. Thanks to the person who created this forum, It has help me a lot.

Also, if anyone know how to find out who is the best neurosurgeon, please let me know. You can send me an email.

Thanks
