This is my story. I was diagnosed with a Basilar artery aneurysm in November of 2006. I was 44 at the time. I never dreamed this would happen to me. I have lost 2 friends to this silent killer.
I was having head aches and dizzy, so that sent me to finding out the truth was happening to me. It was a very scarry time to me and my family, I have 3 daughters, and loving sisters. They were all at the consultation when the word was "brain surgery" scarry huh.
I had no choice because the coil was not going to work because of where the aneurysm was deep in the brain, so I had to go with the clip. So my choice was surgery or go through every day worring if I would wake up. I choose the surgery.
I had to wait for 7 days before surgery because I was on Plavix (for a stroke I had in March 06). Those where the most stressfull days of my life.
On November 14, 2006 I had the surgery. It was succesful with no complications, even though the surgeon went out to tell my family that if they would of waited any longer I could of died. It was ready to burst.
So now here Iam talking about it and all I have to deal with is a clamp and a metal plate in my head, and of course every day life.
So to those of you who are going through this Good Luck my thoughts and prayers are with you...BE STRONG.
Update: 10 May 2007
I just wanted to update on how my life is going since that eventful day in November 2006. I went under the knife again this month on the 3th of May. I had been in excruciating pain for three to four week in my right shoulder through all the days at the doctors perscribing pills and not finding anything wrong. I finally went to the emergency one more time at 3 am on Monday 31st of April, and they admitted me. To find out through a Orthopedic surgeon I had a rare case which they called Septic Arthritis, the haven't seen to many of these cases (1-4 in 100,000) and they don't know why I had it. They call me a mystery patient. So I went under the knife once again. I am now recovering and hopefully getting back to work soon. I know this has nothing to do with my Aneurysm but, now I am finding myself asking WHY?
They say things happen in 3's I hope my 3's are done.
Well my prayers and thoughts are still with you all.
Update: 17 October 2010
I have a question to any of our suffers out there. I have been suffering from head aches to the point they put me down 3 out of 7 days a week. I am waiting to have an MRA done. When I went to the Neurologist here in my town she told me that I suffer from a medical condition know as continuous migraine. Has anyone every heard of that? I just can't believe that I could have a head ache every single day in which I do.
Is there anyone out there that is going through this. My new condition has started about 2 months ago. Should I get a second opinion? This condition has cost me to lose my job because I am not able to make it to work on a daily basis.
I need answers please!

On October 29th just 10 days and after my follow up visit for my stroke on Oct 18th with my Dr, I got home and about 3 to 4 hours later I had another stroke, which landed me in the hospital for 7 seven days. I have more problems added to my existing problems. I have applied for disability, but in the mean time i was denied help from the county. Does anyone have suggestions on where to get help until my disability kicks in?
Take Care and Thank You,
Update: 8 October 2012
6 years ago November 14th 2006 I underwent Brain surgery to clip and anyurysm (to this day i still dont know how to spell it). As I have updated my narrative throughout this time, I now have to add that I will be going under the knife again on November 5, (6 years to almost the day).. Here is my update:
Troughout the summer I have been suffering major headaches which were named Migraines at the time..Not a day went by with out pain, weather, sun, lights noise sleeping wrong all of this bothered me.. I resorted to wearing a tight (knit hat) that would keep me comfortable, I bought several and fund that they worked. So my nuerologist (in Fargo, ND) blamed it on the pain pills, after several CT scans and MRI's the all would say nothing has changed. I told my Dr. If there is nothing changed than why am I wearing a winter hat in the middle of summer..
I finally decided I need more answers than what I am getting and I contacted my Neuorsurgeon the best in the country maybe you have heard of him, Dr Nuessbaum out of Minnesota..well I got him to see him right away. So in September I traveled the 4 hours to the cities and met with him. Well to my rellief he HAD answers!
He sent me to a plastic surgeon, and he found that my sinus cavitiy on the right side is completely blocked off, so they are going to remove the sinus cavity, remove all hardware, and replace bone. With that I am asking the family for prayers and thoughts. God Bless
I will be updating as soon as I can.
