Unbearable Pain In My Lower Back

28 August 2004

On August 15 2002 I was working and about 9:20 a.m. I all of a sudden felt this almost unbearable pain in my lower back and started vomiting, I thought I had slipped a disc in my back but I kept working thinking it would go away,

Finally about 2:30 p.m. I decided I was going home to see if it would ease off if I sat or laid down, that did not happen. So about 6:30 p.m. I went to the emergency room and having a very good doctor there she found the problem, It was an aortic dissection and I lost a kidney in the process.

Since that time I have been taking a lot of blood pressure medication and having a cat scan every 6 months. The reason I'm writing this today they called today to say it has grown to 5.11 centimeters and that they don't do surgery until it is 6.

I would like to hear from any veterans that has had this surgery done in a Veterans Hospital or anyone else that has had it done. It's good to find this site, thanks Dan
