There Is Hope

2 January 2007

In October of 2002, I underwent the first of two emolizations for my AVM at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City. The procedures were performed by Dr. Avi Setton. Since my AVM was located near my brain stem, an open cranial operation was not an option.

In 2003, I moved to Columbus, Ohio and underwent the only option left, radiation, at Riverside Hospital. This procedure was performed by Dr. Dubey.

On December 27th of 2006, I underwent a cranial angiogram. Much to my surprise, the AVM site had closed and the surrounding vessels were normal. I was handed my life back.

When originally diagnosed with an AVM, I was compelled to live a carpe diem life. In some ways, this was good. When every day might be my last, it had a way of simplying things and making me focus on what is truly important.

I know what everyone who has this feels but there is hope.

May God bless.
