TALK TO A
ADVICE
12 September 2006
I am writing in regards to my husband's abdominal aorta aneurysm. He is 65 years old and in fairly good health. He was first diagnosed having it three years ago. We had been measuring the size for that period of time.
In June of this year it had grown to 5cm and he needed surgery. His surgery was performed with a stent inserted from the groin area on August 15th. Not all are candidates for this procedure, but an angiogram showed he was a candidate.
The surgery went better than expected. He spent the night in intensive care and the doctor and I, his wife, decided it would be okay for him to leave the next day. I did not want him to catch any hospital infections.
He has done wonderful. Within a few weeks he has worked in the yard, hit a few at the golf course and walked daily. I think the secret for a successful operation is how good your doctor is at this procedure. Our doctor has his own team that he works with at each operation.
So what we feared for years has been fixed. A thankful wife, Judi So, do your research and find the best doctor available.
