Well, my name is LaRay Biziewski and my husband, Victor, had an aortic dissection of the descending aorta on Sunday, October 13 and today is Saturday. They tell me Victor is lucky to be alive.
He had a small tear by his heart in the descending aorta which has caused the aorta to dissect from his upper chest to his thigh. He's home now, on blood pressure medicine and pain killers and I take his blood pressure, probably a bit too often.
His symptoms were lower abdominal and lower back pain (no textbook ripping or tearing feeling in the upper back) and our wonderful friend, a radiologist in town, made the diagnosis in time for him to receive immediate care from the Ocala-Venice Heart Institute team.
The quest for optimal health care is in motion. Any brilliant surgeons around?
