I met my husband Marty 16 years ago. Not love at first sight but , thought he was a pretty nice guy. I have 3 kids and he has 2. We would get together and let our kids play since they are all about the same age. As time went by I slowly fell in love with him. We had a boat and loved spending every weekend on it with our very close friends. He had a construction company and loved his work. Most of all we loved being together everyday. I only spent 2 nights away from Marty in 13 years. It was a true once in a lifetime love story.
In July 2007 He was complaining of a stiff neck and I noticed he was taking alot of headache medicine even though he never complained of one. He knew I was a worry wart. He chalked up his neck stiffness to lifting things at work.
July 19th,2007 my life took a huge turn, one that will live with me forever. My beautiful husband woke up and looked over at me and simply said"something doesn't feel right" he had a seizure and slipped into a coma. The paramedics got there and he went to Johns Hopkins where the doctors had to tell me there was nothing they could do to save my husband. I was in shock, the night before we kissed and said I love you to each other and now he was dying. The doctors told me he had an AVM by his brain stem and it ruptured and there was nothing to do to stop it.
The worse thing I ever had to do was to go out and tell our children and 30 of our friends that we had to say our goodbyes to him.
Life is coming along for all of us and with the holidays coming up (which was Marty's favorite)we all will come together and celebrate a wonderful man. I hope all of you have something wonderful to celebrate. Happy Holidays to all.
