In loving memory of a real gentleman.
My father, Geoff Haigh, died suddenly and unexpectedly of a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm on March 23rd, 2002. He was 79 and overjoyed by the thought of celebrating his 80th birthday with his family in Berkshire, England. Neither he, nor us, nor his doctor, knew he was suffering from this. There had been no obvious signs.
Reading all the narratives on this website have made me think that perhaps this was a blessing. Yes, perhaps with medical intervention he could have been saved, but he could have suffered enormously for the sake of a few extra dys and months. That, he would have hated. As it was, his last words were to say how nice my mother looked as they went out to dinner.
Where, you may be wondering, does the "choc ice and chips" come in? Asked what he wanted to eat, that was always his facetious reply!
To all those who survive AAA, I wish good health, peace and joy in living.
