December 2008
2008 started off as a very difficult time for our family. We were reeling from the passing of our beloved Dr. Bill Maples, the man who created our big beautiful family, the man who laughed and cried with us. We were unsure if we would still have our "home", the place where we had become so comfortable, the place where beautiful friendships were formed. Through the Grace of God, the University of West Georgia saw the importance of our site and so graciously decided to continue hosting our virtual home.
I was baking cookies and had Christmas Carols playing, and all of a sudden the song that was playing stopped me in my tracks. I called Jim and read him the lyrics and he agreed that this is how we feel about each and everyone of you. I would like to share a couple of verses with you.
THROUGH THE YEARS
Written by: Marty Panzer and Steve Dorff
Through the years,
Through all the good and bad,
I knew how much we had,
I've always been so glad to be with you.
Through the years,
It's better everyday,
You've kissed my tears away,
As long as it's okay,
I'll stay with you, through the years.
Through the years when everything went wrong,
Together we were strong,
I know that I belong right here with you
Through the years. I never had a doubt
We'd always work things out.
I've learned what love's about
By loving you, through the years.
Through the years,
You've never let me down
You turned my life around
The sweetest days I've found, I've found with you.
Through the years, it's better every day,
You've kissed my tears away,
As long as it's okay
I'll stay with you, through the years.
Jim and I would like to wish all of you Seasons Greetings and our hope is that the new year will bring you health and happiness.
In closing there is one more item I would like to share with you. Kim Rueffer sent me this beautiful poem and I think you will agree it is very appropriate.
Someone Is Missing This Christmas
Let this be a loving reminder
That someone is missing today
Someone our hearts still hold on to,
As we travel along life's way.
Someone who made life so special,
For each of our family members here.
Someone who won't be forgotten
But cherished from year to year.
And now as we celebrate Christmas,
Let us all fondly recall,
How dearly each of us loved Bill,
And oh, How he loved us ALL.
God Bless You and Your Loved Ones. Susan and Jim
