MEDT7467: Web Development for Instruction
Assignment 3.1 Introduction to the Virtual Lab I have really enjoyed working in the virtual lab. This is an extremely neat concept and I appreciate the cost saving measures it provides. So far I have successfully set p my home page and course website. I look forward to adding to this site and creating new sites later in the class. This was two hours well spent! Assignment 3.2 Georgia Statehood, A Webquest This has been an interesting assignment for me and I was able to get a few laughs out of it. When I opened the assignment files and saw the directions for the webquest, I took them literally. I proceeded to use the resources provided and researched peaches. I created a powerpoint with all of the information I had gathered. I thought the point of the assignment was to experience a webquest. Seemed simple enough. I went to turn in my powerpoint only to realize that I couldn't attach a file. A bit puzzled, I viewed the tutorial and to my surprise, no powerpoint was needed! I had a few laughs and thought at least I learned alot about my favorite fruit. Between "doing" the webquest, setting up the page, and getting to see first hand how desupport works this has been a very valuable experience. I can see the instructional benefit of webquests for students. The more information you find, the more you want to know. Assignment 3.3 Creating Your Own Webquest This was the first webquest that I've ever created and I have to admit I had fun doing it. I chose to focus on finding the surface area of rectangular prisms. This concept is one that most students have a difficult time with and it's also a large portion of the sixth grade math CRCT. I wanted to include sites that were informational and that would apeal to a variety of learning styles. The more resources I found for my students to use, the more I wanted to find. I hope that same spark appears for my students. The idea behind this webquest is that students have been hired to paint a room and they have to determine exactly how much paint will be needed and how much it will cost. Assignments 3.4 - 3.20 Curriculum Plan These assignments lead to the development of a surface area curriculm web plan. Each assignment focused on a different area of the curriculum plan. The earlier assignments focused on creating icons and navigation buttons with the help of photo shop. Later assignments focused on using style sheets, css rules, inserting images, and inserting links. Finally, learning activities and interactive elements were added to the page. The end result was a curriculum web complete with instructional guides, activities, assessments, and evaluations. |
