1.      What instructional skills did you develop during this field experience?

During my field experience the instructional skills that I developed were asking the students questions while reading a story to them that has to do with the lesson so that they will remember the story better. Using differentiated instruction was another instructional skill that I developed.

2.      What insights did you acquire during this field experience?

During my field experience one of the insights that I acquired were the importance of knowing what special needs that your students have whether it be a learning need or a medical need. Another insight that I acquired was

3.      What were some barriers at your field experience that interfered with your field experience performance?

Some of the barriers that I encountered during my field experience that may have interfered with my performance were that there was one student that in my placement classroom that is very sensory and he really like to hug, touch, feel, and smell things. This type of behavior was something new to me and I did not know what to really make of it so I was not as receptive to this student as I feel as though I should have been. Another barrier was that there was a student who had a major speech problem and a lot of the things that he would say sounded the same to me so I think that this caused my to not call on him as much as I should of because it was really difficult to understand him.

4.      Compared to when you first started this field experience, do you view the nature of the curriculum differently? If so, in what way(s)?

My view on the nature of curriculum as change from when I first started field placement because I was not really sure how I viewed the nature of curriculum other then it was what was taught in the schools. Now that I have been in the schools for a semester I believe that I have a better understanding of what curriculum is and the importance of it.

5.      Compared to when you first started this field experience, do you view the nature of the learner differently? If so, in what way(s)?

My view on the nature of learning has changed from when I first started field placement because I have observed that not every learner is able to learn in the same manner as his or her peers. Even though I already knew that not all students learn the in the same manner as the next student I really noticed this when I went to a Special Education class for half a day. The students there really opened my eyes to the differences that in which individuals learn. I learned from that observation that some students need more repetition than others, which some need not one-on-one instruction.

6.      Compared to when you first started this field experience, do you view the nature of the teacher differently? If so, in what way(s)?

My view of the nature of the teacher has changed from when I first started field because I realized that by being in the field you must also be able to keep your cool when things do not always go the way that they were planed. Also because a teacher must remain assertive and in control when students choose to act out and to damage things that do not belong to them so that the students know who is in charge of the classroom.

7.      What instructional skills do you wish to develop in your future Block II Field Experience that would better prepare you for internship and full-time teaching?

The instructional skills that I wish to develop in Block II Field Experience that would better prepare me for my internship and full-time teaching would be how to notice if a lesson is not going as though it was planned and being able to make the necessary changes on the spot. I also would like to develop the skill of better time and space management in the classroom.
