As the world of testing and standardized curriculum begins to rise in our schools, sometimes art can be tossed onto the chopping block. Although accountability is essential to academic growth, the importance of personal aesthetic growth is often overlooked. Art education increases effectiveness in other disciplines, but also increases creative thinking, promotes self-awareness, develops appreciation for variation, and requires self-examination. A combination of both academic ritual and artistic freedom create a well-rounded child who will reach their full potential as an adult.
